Trump acquitted of inciting insurrection, even as bipartisan majority votes ‘guilty’
Former President Donald Trump got a significant relief as the Senate has acquitted Trump of inciting an insurrection. Donald Trump has now been acquitted on a charge of the January 6 inciting US Capitol riot in his second impeachment trial. The lawmakers acquitted Trump of inciting the January 6 Capitol attack after a five-day impeachment trial in the US Senate; they have voted 57-43 to convict him, short of the two-thirds majority needed to find him guilty.
The vote was split along party lines with 57 lawmakers voting to convict and 43 votings to acquit Trump in the trial.
