AP Local Body Elections 2021: TDP wins in Nimmada

The counting of votes is underway as the first phase of panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh is over. TDP candidate Kinjarapu Suresh won in Nimmada, Srikakulam district. Suresh is the son of Hariprasad, the elder brother of TDP senior leader Atchannaidu. TDP backed Suresh's candidature as Sarpanch. The Telugu Desam Party got 1,827 votes, and the YSRCP got 157 votes. Kinjarapu Suresh won the seat with more than 1700 votes. TDP's victory in Nimmada came after almost 40 years.

It is well known that Tekkali MLA Atchannaidu was arrested during the Nimmada panchayat election. He was accused of threatening YSRCP-backed sarpanch candidate Kinjarapu Appanna.
