Senior Journalist Krishna Rao comments on AP Local Body Elections
Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is going to release the notification for the panchayat elections tomorrow at 10 am. At the same time, he has started executing his special powers. He took action against some of the officials who do not co-operate in the conduct of elections. Guntur and Chittoor district collectors have been shifted and he took action transferring Tirupati Urban SP.
Reacting to the state's present development, senior journalist Krishna Rao has shared the executive powers of the state election commissioner. He said that after the release of the notification concerning the local body polls, it would come into force legally without interruption. He said, however, the state government has approached the Supreme Court to postpone the election. Krishna Rao said if the Supreme Court gives any verdict positive to the state government before 10 am tomorrow, then there are chances that election may be postponed, otherwise, the election schedule will continue according to the moral code of conduct as far as the previous announcement of the SEC is concerned.
