That’s a world record! Longest swim beneath Lake Baikal’s ice
A Russian swimmer has claimed the world record for the longest under-ice swim. Russian swimmer Ekaterina Nekrasova has achieved the milestone for the longest under-ice swim, at 85 meters. With this, the Russian swimmer beat South African Amber Fillary, who had made the previous record of 70 meters.
According to the reports, Ekaterina Nekrasova wasn't allowed to use a wet suit. She used just a regular bathing suit and swam beneath the ice of Lake Baikal in Siberia. In the bone-chilling footage, one can see how she breaststroked through the 0-degree-Celsius waters under-ice swim on Lake Baikal, the world’s deepest and oldest lake.
