First covid vaccine consignment reach Vijayawada airport from Pune for AP
The first consignment carrying covid vaccines manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII) arrived at the Vijayawada airport on Tuesday afternoon from Pune. The Covishield vaccine doses were shifted to a state’s vaccine store building in Gannavaram amidst tight security from the airport.
The vaccines will be stored in big size freezers. Later, the vaccines will be distributed to district headquarters for administering them. In the first phase, the AP government wants to vaccinate one crore people in the state. First priority will be given to health workers, aged, and government staff.
