SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar releases AP Local Body election schedule
AP Local Body election poll schedule got released. The cold war between the Andhra Pradesh state government and the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar continues over the schedule for local body elections. After the bitter legal battle between them, the State Election Commissioner seems to be firm on his decision. Though the Chief Secretary and his team tried to clarify that local body elections are not possible in the pandemic situation and the dry run for the vaccination continues, the SEC decided on his own.
According to the notification, the AP Local Body election will be held in four phases. The first phase of panchayat elections would be held on February 5, followed by the second on February 9, the third on February 13 and the fourth on February 17.
It seems the state government may approach the Supreme Court to postpone the election citing the above reasons.
