US to modify H-1B visa selection process; priority to wages, skill level over lottery system
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that wages and skill level of the applicants will be taken into consideration instead of the current lottery system for granting H-1B visas.
The USCIS has changed the selection process with an aim of protecting the interests of the USA employees and ensuring highly skilled foreign workers benefit from the temporary employment programme. The rule will come into effect 60 days after its publication in the Federal Register. The next H-1B visa filing season is scheduled to start on April 1.
