Oxford's Covishield gets emergency use approval in India
The Coivd-19 vaccine 'Covidshield', developed by the University of Oxford and drug manufacturer AstraZeneca, has been recommended for emergency use approval in India. It is in the hands of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to take a final call on it.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation's Subject Expert Committee (SEC) has held a meeting to finalise the decision on approving the Covishield vaccine against Covid-19 developed jointly by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and AstraZeneca-Oxford University. Reports suggest that Covishield vaccine has got approval by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation's Subject Expert Committee for emergency use in India.
