New corona strain: Tests to be conducted on 2,300 passengers reached Hyd from UK
Tests will be conducted on 2,300 passengers, who have arrived in Hyderabad from the United Kingdom (UK) in the last week, to find whether they have contracted a new strain of the coronavirus. One of each Covid-19 case with a new variant was registered in Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai.
The flights between the UK and Hyderabad were suspended following orders from the Civil Aviation Ministry. A high alert was sounded at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad. The Maharashtra government had already declared night curfew for a week to prevent the spread of a new strain of the coronavirus.
