Emergency lockdown in London due to alarm over new Covid variant
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in a desperate move to curb a rapidly spreading new coronavirus strain, imposed new and higher levels of coronavirus restrictions on London. Johnson also added that Christmas gatherings can't go ahead and non-essential shops must stay closed in London. The restrictions are similar to the national lockdown imposed in November.
It was found that the new coronavirus variant is 70 per cent more infectious than the original virus. However, the opposition parties and protesters have opposed lockdown once again. Scientists are saying that the variant of this virus may be present in other countries also.
