AP govt initiates disciplinary proceedings against suspended IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao
The AP government has initiated disciplinary action against suspended senior IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao. Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney on Friday issued orders in this regard and directed Venkateswara Rao to appear before a concerned official or give in writing within 15 days to defend himself that he did not commit a mistake in the allegations levelled against him.
The state government has made it clear to the IPS officer not to approach politicians or any other persons to influence the disciplinary proceedings. Charges were filed against Rao for allegedly influencing the committee to favour an Israel based private company in the purchase of security equipment.
