Democracy prevailed: Joe Biden after electoral college confirms his victory
The Electoral College gave Joe Biden a majority and confirmed his victory in last month’s presidential polls. The state-by-state voting took on added importance as Donald Trump refused to concede the loss. California’s 55 electoral votes put Biden over the top, clearing the 270-vote mark.
The 270-vote mark affirmed that Biden will be the next president of the United States. Electors cast paper ballots in gatherings that took place in all 50 states and the district of Columbia. The results will be sent to Washington and tallied in a January 6 joint session of Congress.
