AP Assembly passes Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill amidst opposition uproar
The AP Assembly on Monday passed Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill amidst uproar from the opposition. Earlier, the TDP members urged Speaker Tammineni Sitaram to allow discussion on the Bill. He informed the opposition that the Legislative Council had sent the Bill to the Assembly seeking amendments.
“The Bill was tabled in the Assembly for consideration with amendments,” he mentioned. But, the TDP members have demanded the Speaker to take up discussion despite the latter saying that Bill was only for consideration and not for discussion. At this juncture, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy intervened and stated that the Assembly had already discussed the Bill.
