Supreme Court orders Andhra govt to seek permission from SEC for development works
Supreme Court has ordered Andhra Pradesh government to seek permission from State Election Commissioner for development works. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, while appearing for the state government had asked how Election Commission would give permission when the election code was not in force.
The Counsel for Election Commission reacted that the election had not been cancelled, it was postponed only. The High Court has finally directed the state government to apply to the Election Commission for permission over development works. Earlier, the state election commission has postponed the local body elections due to the coronavirus outbreak.
