Actor Soumitra Chatterjee dies at 85 in Kolkata after battle with COVID
Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee has passed away after a month-long battle since contracting coronavirus. The hospital sources said that Chatterjee died at 12.15 pm today (15th November 2020). The actor struggled for life in one of Kolkata's private hospitals since testing positive for Covid on 6th Oct. He was 85. Though the actor had recovered from the Covid infection, he could not defeat multiple ailments.
He has acted in more than 200 films. He was a poet, writer and was also known for his poetry recitations. He was the recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 2004 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2012.
