Filmmaker Mira Nair’s son Zohran wins seat in New York State Assembly
Filmmaker Mira Nair’s son Zohran Mamdani has won a seat in the New York State Assembly in the on-going United States presidential elections 2020. Zohran is the first South Asian to win the seat. Zohran has announced the news via Twitter. The 28-year-old tweeted, “I'm going to Albany to fight to tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor & build a socialist New York. But I can’t do it alone. To win socialism, we'll need a mass movement of the multiracial working class as well.” Mamdani is the first South Asian to win a New York Assembly seat.
