Why Nimmagadda Ramesh defied HC verdict on local body polls in 2018, asks Minister Appalaraju
In the News Watch programme, Minister Seediri Appalaraju asked State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as to why he did not follow the High Court (HC) verdict on local body elections in 2018. The HC in its order cleared said that elections to local bodies must be conducted in three months, he stated. The minister said that conducting local body elections is not possible when thousands of coronavirus cases are still being reported in the state. He mentioned that the AP government will be busy with the creation of new districts from January to March.
