Three Capitals: Congress files affidavit in AP High Court

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Congress party filed an affidavit in High Court against three capitals and citing people will not get benefit from it. Earlier, the High Court said parties can also submit their opinion on three capitals issue, therefore, PCC filed an affidavit supporting Amaravati as capital. PCC chief Sailajanath said the decision of the government will lay an extra burden on the state treasury.
He added that it will create problems for the people and no one will get profit from it. He further added that Congress party welcomed Amaravati as capital in the past and the party will stick to its words. Sailajanath recalled that 29,000 farmers gave their lands for developing Amaravati as the state capital and there exists a partner agreement between government and farmers.
He said to Court that Rs 10,000 crore was spent on Amaravati developmental programmes. He questioned what is the need of shifting capital from Amaravati as several buildings are at various phases.
