Meet the man who cultivates 'Black Rice' using Vedas - 10 Tv

Karimnagar: Cultivating Black rice is uncommon as most of the northeast states farmers cultivating it from the past four years but have you ever heard of Black rice cultivation using our ancient Vedas? If not, meet the young farmer Kautilya Krishnan from Kashimpet village, Ganneruvaram Mandal, Karimnagar who completed his MA (Yajurveda) from National Sanskrit University, Tirupati and successfully cultivating Black Rice using Vedas.
After aiming to start traditional cultivation methods using Vedas, Kautilya Krishnan came to know about Krisna Vrihi. After examining the traditional methods of farming following the guidelines from ancient scripts like Krishi Parashara, Kashyapiya’s Krishisukti, and Surapala’s Vrikshayurveda. Through his vigorous research and traditional cultivation, Krishnan producing exotic and nutritious Black rice which costs between Rs 400 to 600 per KG. This ancient traditional cultivation mainly comprises of using natural honey, pure milk and honey.
Black Rice is rich in vitamin E, iron, calcium, antioxidants, magnesium and zinc. Studies claimed that Black rice helps to fight against heart problems, cancer, fatty liver, obesity, hormones related issues and other health disorders. Recently, Manipur's Black Rice bagged Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
