Responding to the petition filed by one Done Sambasiva Rao, the Central government on Wednesday submitted an additional affidavit to the AP High Court over Centre’s role in setting up the capital. In the affidavit, the Central government made it clear that the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 did not mention that the state should have only one capital.
The affidavit further said the petitioner should not arrive at a conclusion that Amaravati is the AP capital as the High Court was already established. “The High Court was set up in Amaravati with the then TDP government’s consent,” the Centre said.
