Opening up without control of Covid is recipe for disaster: WHO
As countries began to lift restrictions, World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that opening up societies speedily amid the coronavirus pandemic is a recipe for disaster. Tedros asserted that countries should not reopen economies if they don’t have control over the coronavirus. However, Tedros stated that the WHO fully supports countries for reopening their economies. “We want to see children returning to schools and employees getting back to their workplaces. But, we want to ensure that it should be done safely,” he added. Tedros cautioned that no country should pretend that the pandemic is over.
