What you need to know about pulse oximeters- COVID-19
Pulse Oximeter is an electronic device that measures the saturation of oxygen carried in your red blood cells. Attached to a finger, Pulse Oximeter determines the percentage of oxygen in the red blood cell. As people with COVID-19 often need oxygenation support, it has become necessary for the layperson.
Oximeters are non-invasive, low-cost, easy to use. There are no requirements of needles and no pain involved in oximetry measurement. The measured amount shown on the screen of the device gives doctors and nurses an idea of the person's treatment level.
