Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple verdict: SC upholds rights of Travancore royal family
The Supreme Court upheld the rights of the Travancore royal family in administration of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala. However, the administrative panel will manage the temple affairs and the District Judge of Thiruvananthapuram will be the chairperson of the panel. The verdict was pronounced on Monday after nine years of hearing the case.
In 2011, Kerala High Court had ruled that the State government must take complete control over the temple instead of the royal family. However, the decision has now been reversed after it was challenged in the Supreme Court.
