Remdesivir dosage revised, now to be taken for five days
The centre has revised the health guidelines associated with the drug remdesivir. The Union Health Ministry has changed the remdesivir dosage that is administered to hospitalized coronavirus patients from the earlier six-days to five-day treatment course.
The health ministry has suggested the use of the drug to those patients who have a moderate disease and those taking the oxygen support. The drug is not recommended to a patient with severe kidney impairment and for pregnant ladies.
The health ministry has recommended the administration of the dosage of remdesivir, i.e. 200 mg IV on day 1, followed by 100 mg IV daily for the remaining four days.
