Cyclone Nisarga will be making landfall around noon on Wednesday at Alibag in Mumbai with a wind speed of 110 kmph. Heavy rain, winds and high waves were seen at Alibaug as the cyclone approaches the Maharashtra coast. Lakhs of people including thousands of coronavirus patients have been evacuated to safer locations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to chief ministers of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Wind speed is likely to be lower in coastal Gujarat compared to Mumbai. The financial capital is bracing for a severe cyclone for the first time since 1891.
