Herd of elephants struggle to cross highway in AP
A herd of elephants have struggled to cross the four-lane Chennai-Bengaluru highway near Jagamarla in Palamaner rural mandal in Chittoor district.
Bike and four-wheeler drivers, who were riding vehicles on the highway, have feared that elephants might attack them. Vehicles were stopped on the road far from elephants for more than 30 minutes. Farmers were worried that elephants might destroy their crops.
Motorcyclists and four-wheeler drivers heaved a sigh of relief as the elephants entered into the Jagamarla forest. There are several instances of elephants straying into human habitations very close to the forest in Chittoor district.
