Tamil Nadu government is all set to take possession of former CM Jayalalitha's residence to make it a memorial. Reports suggest that the Tamil Nadu government has already promulgated an ordinance to take ownership of Veda Nilayam to the State government temporarily. In the meantime, the Tamil Nadu government seized the residence of the former Tamil Nadu in Chennai.
J Jayalalithaa had resided in Veda Nilayam for the past three decades. Jayalalithaa had stayed at that residence until she died. After her death, Jayalalithaa's close aide Sashikala stayed at that residence for some time. After her arrest, the building became vacant.
