HYDERABAD: Doctors across the world are trying hard to save the lives of people from COVID-19 pandemic and trying various treatments to fight against the virus. Now, the news is that some patients at Maimonides Medical Center in New York are being treated with oxygenated blood to their lungs. According to the reports, the lungs of some patients may be damaged after ventilator to supply oxygen into the blood. It is learnt that at that time the doctors go for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine which is last resort in respiratory aid. The ECMO machines remove the blood from the body and then pumps it through an artificial lung (Oxygenerator). The oxygenator oxygenates the blood, by removing the carbon dioxide from the blood and returned it into the patient's body.
