Covid-19 pandemic may push 40 crore Indians into poverty
The United Nations (UN) report has stated that 40 crore Indians working in the unorganised sector in India may be pushed into poverty because of lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus across the country. The UN stated that Covid-19 is the worst global crisis since World War II. All over the world, 1.95 crore employees in developed and developing countries will be losing their jobs in the third quarter of this year, the report said. The International Labour Organisation gave a call to nations to fight unitedly against Covid-19.
