Over 50 attended funeral of Tamil Nadu COVID-19 victim, alleges body removed from protective bag

TAMIL NADU: In a shocking incident, more than 50 people attended the funeral of a person who died after COVID-19 and allegedly taken the body from protective covers for religious rites. The incident triggered tension among the locals after fear spreading the virus. According to the sources, a 71-year-old man from Ramanathapuram district admitted in Chennai's Stanley Medical Collge after Corovirus symptoms after he returns from Dubai. Reports said that he has died in the hospital while undergoing the treatment on April 2. He was tested positive for Coronavirus after he died and his dead body was taken to his home town. Some people alleged that the dead body was taken out of the protective bag for religious rituals. But, some people alleged that the attendees didn't know about that the person died after Coronavirus as the medical staff has not informed them. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu health secretary said that the family members of the deceased person informed about the news and the body was placed in a protective cover.
