Cabinet reduces salaries of MPs by 30% for one year
NEW DELHI: Amidst Coronavirus crisis, the union cabinet approved the Ordinance amending the salary, benefits and pension of members of the Parliament ACT, 1954 on Monday, April 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a video conference with Ministers to discuss over the Ordinance amending. According to the reports, the salaries and pensions of MPs will be reduced by 30 per cent from April 2020 and will continue for one year. The cabinet also approved the temporary suspension of MPLAD for two years and the funds will go to the Consolidated funds of India. The funds will be used to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic from spreading.
