AR Rahman pulled up by GST team for pending dues

Noted music composer AR Rahman was pulled up by the GST team for pending dues. According to the reports, Oscar-winning composer A.R Rahman was asked by the goods and services tax (GST) council and Central excise (CE) department to pay Rs. 6.79 crore arrears along with a penalty of another Rs. 6.79 crore additional amount for pending dues. The commissioner of GST and CE, K.M Ravichandran of Chennai South division, in his notice has alleged that A.R Rahman has not been paying service tax properly on payments that he has been receiving for his work. It is a temporary relief for the music composer as the Madras High Court has granted a stay till 4 March.
