The Supreme Court while giving its verdict on review petitions filed against the September 2018 verdict of a five-judge bench to allow women of all ages into the Sabarimala shrine has sent the issue to a larger bench of the court. The Top Court on Thursday has decided that a larger bench should take up the matter pertaining to the entry of all women into Kerala’s Sabarimala temple. The top court, in a 3:2 split verdict, said that the issue being raised for consideration by a larger bench of the top court cannot be ruled out. The bench comprising CJI Gogoi, justices Malhotra and Khanwilkar agreed to refer the review pleas to a seven-judge bench.
