The Modi government is planning to make changes in Income Tax slabs to boost the Indian economy and also to garner votes of salaried class in the next general elections. At present, the I-T slabs are 5, 20 and 30 per cent. The Centre wants to change I-T slabs as 5, 10 and 20 per cent so that employees will spend more money. However, the Central government has to bear the burden of Rs 1.75 lakh crore with the reduction in I-T slabs.
