Centre to set up 75 new medical colleges by 2022; Addl 15,700 MBBS seats - NTv

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) gave approval for setting up 75 new medical colleges in the country by 2022. The medical colleges will come up where district hospitals having a bed strength of 200. An additional 15,700 MBBS seats would become available to students. The CCEA met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a decision to enhance Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in four sectors. A decision was also taken to allow 26 per cent FDI in digital media.
