Short-lived German nuclear plant's cooling tower has been demolished after remote-controlled excavators removed pillars. It is the Muelheim-Kaerlich plant, next to the Rhine river and it was situated near Koblenz. The top half of the tower had already been removed by a specially designed robot. According to the reports, the plant tower was online for just 13 months and it has been demolished, 31 years after it stopped producing electricity. The plant was closed in September 1988 when a federal court ruled the risk of earthquakes in that area.
