Hyderabad Airport Experiments With Facial Recognition Technology - AP24x7

Hyderabad Airport has become India's first to introduce facial recognition for passengers. It has become a reality at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad in Hyderabad. A trial run has been launched for this initiative. Passenger can apply for a Digi Yatra ID and then a camera verifies the face and lets him/her pass through security checks without showing any boarding pass. Special counters have been made at the gate numbers of 1 and 3 of the domestic departure terminal. Passengers availing it can register their details from 8 am in the morning to 8 pm in the night. People can avail the same till 31st of this month, it is learned. The facility is likely to be made available to people traveling to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Vizag, and Vijayawada.
