Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan decided not to field party candidate from Mangalagiri constituency. He left the seat to CPI as part of an electoral alliance with Left parties. The political analysts expressed surprise over Jana Sena allocating the seat to CPI where TDP fielded Nara Lokesh, son of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP renominated sitting MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy. In 2014 elections, Ramakrishna Reddy won with a slender margin of 12 votes. Reason for leaving the seat to CPI was the considerable presence of Left parties’ vote bank in Mangalagiri segment.
