The Supreme Court directed the Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar to make himself available to the CBI. However, the Apex Court instructed no coercive steps like arrest can be undertaken at this point and served notices to West Bengal Chief Secretary, DGP and Kolkata police chief. The Supreme Court gave directions based on the plea filed by CBI alleging that the Kolkata top cop has destroyed evidence pertaining to the Saradha chit fund scam. This is a massive setback to Mamata Banerjee those from the Opposition that have sided with her.
