Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a petition filed by former Congress MLA and a crusader for the cause of Backward Classes (BCs), to repeal the Panchayati Raj ordinance framed by Telangana government, rescheduling BC reservations from 33 per cent to 22 per cent. The ordinance has not violated the 50 per cent reservations mark, the judge said. As such there is no need to annul or cancel the ordinance, he said. Krishnaiah, who had been fighting for the cause of the BCs since long, contested on Mahakutami ticket in 2018 elections and lost.
