Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director, Alok Verma has been reinstated in his post after Supreme Court (SC) quashed the Central Government order, asking him to go on leave in view of alleged corruption. Sanjay Hegde, Counsel for Alok Verma in SC, said that it is a victory for 'independence' of institutions. The Government had clearly intervened in asking Verma to step aside in a midnight order, which is nothing but executive overreach, he said. He further said that the allegations against Verma can be taken up by the High-powered committee of the CJI, PM and Opposition leader in Parliament.
