Special focus is being made these days on Chiru Dhanyalu or Millets that were consumed by our ancestors. Chiru Dhanyalu or Millets are being referred to these days as 'Siri Dhayalu' or 'Nutricious Grains.' Some of these millets that are available in local markets are Korrelu, Saamalu, Ragulau, Arkalu and Varghalu. Even doctors are recommending these foods in place of the usual rice and wheat. They are said to be rich in fibre as well as minerals like phosphorus and calcium.
