Some 28 varieties of flowers and leaves, weighing seven tonnes, have been collected at Tirumala, for performing Pushpa Yagam. The Yagam is performed every year, on the seventh day of Karthika month of Telugu Calendar. The role of Horticulture Department is crucial in the collection of these flowers. They will carried to the temple in a procession and Archana will be performed to the deity, as part of the Yagam. The ritual is performed as redemtion from various acts of ommission that might have taken place in the temple.
