India has voted against a United Nations General Assembly draft resolution on the death penalty and made it clear that it is against the country’s statutory law. According to the information received, the assembly has approved the resolution, with 123 countries voted in favour of it. 36 countries have turned against it. Thirty countries have abstained from it. An accused has the right to appeal to a High Court or the Supreme Court pertaining to the death case, diplomat Paulomi Tripathi said.
