Japan's Princess Ayako has married a commoner at Tokyo's Meiji Shrine on Monday. The marriage event took place in one of the pagoda-like buildings and people saw the exchange of rings and a sharing of a cup of sake. Ayako, 28-years-old, is the daughter of the emperor's cousin, and Moriya, 32, is employed in a major shipping company Nippon Yusen. According to the royal principles, women who marry into the imperial family become members of the family, but those who marry commoners, like Ayako, must leave the royal status.
