Lion Air plane with 189 passengers has crashed into the sea within minutes after it took off from Jakarta Airport on Monday morning. The plane lost contact with Air Traffic Control 13 minutes after it took off. The flight was heading to Pangkal Pinang off the island of Sumatra from Jakarta when the mishap took place. The plane plunged into Karawang Bay in West Java province. The Indonesian authorities have launched search and rescue operations. The water in the sea at the crash site is around 30-35 metre deep.
