Messaging giant, WhatsApp has built a system to store payments-related data in India, in tune with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) norms. The Central Bank has issued a circular in April this year, that all data related to payments must be stored in one system in India. The last date for this is October 15th. Almost one million people are testing the feature currently, it is learnt. The data localisation mandatory by RBI has received some mixed response from payment apps.
