The Supreme Court on Tuesday made it clear that candidates can't be barred from polls on framing of criminal charges. The Apex Court said that a candidate has to declare the criminal antecedents to Election Commission before contesting an election. The bench comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, R F Nariman, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud, and Indu Malhotra said that a political candidate should reveal the cases pending against him and they should put it to the official websites and also make people know about these court proceedings to the various forms of media ahead of the election.
