PM Modi inaugurates India’s 100th airport in Sikkim

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the 100th airport of the country. It is Pakyong airport, which is situated about 30km from state capital Gangtok. With this launch, Sikkim found a place on the aviation map connecting with the rest of the country. Sikkim has no rail link and it is the landlocked state. The nearest airport from Sikkim is Bagdogra, which is situated 125 km away from West Bengal. According to the reports, the Commercial flights will be operational from October 4 when SpiceJet would start its daily Kolkata-Sikkim flights. Rs 605.59 crore was allocated for the completition of the project.
