Bankey Bihari temple is situated in the holy city of Vrindavan, at Mathura, on the banks of River Yamuna, in Uttar Pradesh. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Bankey means bent in three places and Bihari means, 'supreme enjoyer.' Banke Bihari temple was established by Swamy Haridasji, who is the Guru of Tansen. The story goes that Haridasji sang a bhajan in praise of Lord Krishna, who appeared along with his eternal lover, Radha and the couple merged into one, forming the idol.
